JACKSON BUSINESS MET TO TESTIFY IN OKLA. WILL GIVE EVIDENCE AGAINST DEFUNCT BANK OFFICIALS INDICTED FOR FRAUD. Special to The News. Jackson, Miss., Jan. 23.-Twenty of the leading business men of Jackson left yesterday for Oklahoma City to appear as witnesses in the cases of United States vs. Fred Ward, H. F. Crisler and R. O. Bonds, officers and agents of the defunct Jackson Loan & Trust Company, charged with using the mails with intent to defraud. Indictments against the three parties named were returned several months ago, and they have since been under bond for appearance at the present court term in Oklahoma City. Among the witnesses from this city who will testify are the following: E. E. Hindman, receiver of the defunct company; Fred M. West, Federal referee in bankruptcy; R. O. Edwards, postmaster of Jackson; W. C. Allen, assistant cashier of the defunct MisS sissippi Bank & Trust Company; R. F. Young, cashier First National bank; Sydney Craft, cashier of Jackson bank; Amos R. Johnston, cashier of Capital National bank; T. McClelland, former president of the Jackson bank; Judge W. H. Potter, attorney; Louis C. Hallam, former city prosecutor, and others. The Jackson Bank & Trust Company, prior to the proceedings instituted against it two years ago, operated exi tensively in several Southern states. Efforts to put it out of business through the state courts were unavailing, and it was not checked until the 1 Federal government issued a fraud order and barred its literature from the mails. No indictments were found against the officers in this state, but when the Federal authorities in Oklahoma started an investigation, criminal charges were preferred and indictments found.
