Big Sandy Hi Here Sat. Big Team Coming for Return Game With Local School Big Sandy comes here Saturday evening for a return game with the local high school team. The local fans will have the chance to see the principal contending teams for the district championship here except that of the Falls. Big Sandy is considered in the running altho it has not played as consistent a game as some of the others. They have a team of big men with a lot of experience. The locals gave them considerable trouble at the time of their trip to Big Sandy during the holidays and there is considerable interest in seeing this much talked of quintet perform. The last home game for the high school is a week after the Big Sandy game when Shelby, another possible contender for the district honors is to play Chinook here. The team makes a trip to Harlem after the district tournament. The tournament starts at Havre on Feb. 21. The Harlem trip comes on Feb. 29th The High School team and the Girls' team of the high school go to Havre on Feb. 12th to play return games with the Havre teams there. Benton Won From Local High The local school won one game and evening by a score of 24 to 6. Benton team took the game last Thursday evening by a score of 24 to 6. Benton played a rough, fast game and was called on fouls a lot but the local men failed to make many of their free tosses count. Benton guards smothered the local offensive and the speedy Uhl kept getting away from the defense. The second quarter was the disastrous one, the locals fumbling the ball continually while Benton made 15 points. In the first quarter the locals held them to three points and in the last quarter to one. The locals lined up with Butler and Fredlund as forwards, Cole at center and Ross and Ramburg at guards. In the last quarter Murphy and Brooks went in at forwards for a part of the quarter. Sanders refereed and Stevens served as umpire. 8th Grade Team Won From Havre As a preliminary the Chinook 8th grade team played the Havre Junior High team. The crowd went wild to see the local grade team run rings around their opponents. The first half ended with the score 17 to 0 and at when the final it was 29 to 2, Havre managing to get a field basket in the last quarter. The 8th grade team has been coached for three years by H. P. Budewitz who started them in the 6th grade and they have developed team work that surprised the crowd. They have proven formidable opponents to the high school class teams in the school tournament, and have held the seniors to a one point lead in two games and have beaten the freshmen and juniors decisively. They meet the sophomore team tonight in a preliminary for the town team's game. The 8th grade lined up with Wallner at center, Harbolt and Crawford at forwards and Barber and Ross at guards. L. C. Stevens worked as referee for the junior game. The 8th grade team are arranging for a game with the Harlem grades in February to be played here. They go to Havre next Wednesday, Feb. 6th to play a return game with the Junior High there. Chinook High Won From Malta Chinook High took revenge on Malta high Saturday for their early season defeat, winning a close game by a score of 17 to 15. Chinook started off with a rush and led at the end of the first half by a score of 13 to 8. The locals converted practically all of their free throws and got away for a lot of shots at the basket. They still had trouble holding the ball on passes but Malta suffered from the same fault to an even greater degree. The team got away from the idea of depending entirely on Cole to throw from the field and it helped their game. The lineup for the game was Cole at center, Butler and Fredlund at forwards and Ross and Ramburg at guards. Butler hurt his elbow in a spill in the last quarter and Brooks went in in his place. Sanders refereed in his usual competent manner. The Malta team was entertained with the local squad at lunch after the game by the Sophomore girls, at the Home Economics rooms. The visitors were entertained at a short dance in the halls of the high school building after lunch. The preliminary was a game between a team of the senior and junior girls on one side and the freshmen and sophomore girls on the other. The seniors had the aid of two graduate girls. The lower class led all of the way until the last couple minutes of the play when the upper class shot a field basket for the winning score. The final score was 15 to 14. The line-up of the two teams was as follows: Yellows (Upper classes): Mary Seymour, Leona Jepson, Nellie Smith, Anna Dowen and Harriet Grass. Green (lower classes): Vera Murphy, Greta Sands, Anna Maney, Loretta Maney, Loretta Kuhr. DODSON MAN IS NAMED BANK RECEIVER THERE Helena, Jan. 22.—Roy Lee of Dodson has been appointed by the comptroller of the currency as receiver of the First National bank of Dodson, according to a telegram received in Helena Tuesday by Mrs. W. W. Hamilton, state representative from Phillips county.
