ROBBERS BLOW OPEN SAFE OF CLOSED BANK Either Unaware That Maniton Bank Was Closed, or Were Seeking Experience Minot, N. D., Sept. 22.-(A)) Yeggs who blew open a safe in the closed Farmers and Merchants bank at Manitou, in Mountrail county, either were unaware of the fact that the institution was closed, or were seeking experience in using explosives, in the belief of J. P. Reeve, district receiver of closed banks with headquarters at Burlington. The bank was closed last July, Mr. Reeve said in Minot today, and since that time has been under the jurisdiction of Mr. Reeve's office. All the yeggs got was old records of the bank, according to the district receiver, who was informed of the robbery by B. W. Taylor of Stanley, former president of the bank and now in the employment of Mr. Reeve. In addition to the attempted bank burglary the cracksmen also stole an automobile from a garage in Maintou it is reported.
