NEW BANK READY. It Will Open About May 14 a Stapleton. It has been annonnced that the new Richmond National Bank, of Stapleton, will open for business on or about May 14. The only uncertainty as to date is due to difficulty in securing suitable quarters. A temporary office has been opened in the old building of the Staten Island Bank, where a representative of the organizers is on duty each day to give any information sought. The response to the request for subscriptions to the capital stock has been such that from a financial standpoint the organizers are in a position to open the bank at once. The receiver of the defunct bank has appraised the banking house at $16,000. While this amount is not considered high, it is thought that a piece of property on which a modern bank building could be erected would not cost as much. The stock of the new bank has been disposed of in every section of the borough, and the Board of Directors, with but two exceptions, will be composed of representative business men of Staten Island. The idea is to make the new institution as nearly local as possible.
