FARMERS BANK IS OPEN WEDNESDAY Public Co-operating Fully With Institution in Restoring Activity The bank holiday was broken partially for Central City Wednesday morning when the Farmers National bank was one of 113 in Nebraska to be permitted to open for unrestricted service save in two respects. President C. C. McEndree reports an unusually fine attitude on the part of depositors, and the receipt of approximately $5,000 in gold and gold certificates from this community. Business activity took a turn for the better locally Wednesday morning with the opening of the Farmers bank, on an unrestricted basis except where bank officials have reason to believe that withdrawals are for hoarding purposes. They are authorized to refuse such withdrawals. The only other restriction is that no gold or gold certificates will be issued. Otherwise "business is as usual", with deposits 100 per cent at the disposal of their owners. Central City residents exhibit the same good natured spirit of co-operation in the crisis, and as in other points their confidence is expressed in excess of deposits over withdrawals. This was true, Mr. McEndree reports, to a marked degree on Wednesday. In fact, since the bank opened for restricted operations, deposits have increased daily.
