Durango people are sure nervy. Within the past two weeks there has been a disastrous fire in which several people lost their all. Then came the closing up of a large business house and later the two bank failures, and yet there is hardly a ripple of excitement over the hard knocks received. The statement has been made that both banks will pay dollar for dollar. The people generally believe the statement and although they realize that It will be some time before they get their money they are confident of getting it eventually. A very few depositors drew their money from the First National, but the deposits greatly exceeded the withdrawals. The $100 limit in vogue since the panic in the east was removed and depositors were given the full amount of their deposits on demand. While bad enough the situation is not as bad as it might be.
