Local and Personal. Mrs. J. P. Cannon has been very sick this week. Ed Green is on the sick list this week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones went to Stuart Sunday. Sheriff Sam Turner of Holdenville was in town Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Auglin returned from Oklahoma City Sunday. Rev. J. G. Ingram of Gerty was in town Thursday en route home from Holdenville. Mrs. Ella Stiff of Ada visited her brother, J. A. Wilson and family this week. Roy Wilson returned Tuesday from a three visit with relatives at Anadarko. Day by day in every way Clayton's Grocery & Meat Market gets better and better. Rev. A. C. Pickens of Allen was in town Wednesday en route home from McAlester. Make Mitchell of Lexington is visiting his niece, Mrs. J. B. Welch this week. Good Beef Roast at Clayton's Grocery Co. 12 1-2 c per pound. "Grandma" Crumley of Allen was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Reed Tuesday night while en route home from Stuart. Elder Blue of Arkansas passed thru Calvin Monday en route home from Stuart, where he had been conducting a meeting. Elder W. H. George of Stuart filled his regular appointment at the Christian Church Sunday, both morning and evening. Rev. J. W. Baxter of Shawnee filled his regular appointment at the Baptist Church last Sunday both morning and evening. Try Golden Grain Coffee. Sold by Clayton Grocery Co. Mrs. L. M. Logan is very sick this week. When broke go to the Calvin Garage for Repairs. Mr. and Mrs. Will Barnes' baby is seriously sick this week. Bill Coats and Ed Sumner of Non were in town Tuesday. Rev. W. L. Lindsey of Ada was in town Wednesday. Geo. Morse came home from his school near Wetumka sick with an attack of grippe Thursday. Mrs. Don Rogers of Stuart came up last Friday to attend the funeral of little G. L. Miller. P. J. Stidham has installed a meat market in connection with family grocery. Carl Goodman of Shawnee was the guest of Miss Capitola Jones Sunday. Take your car to the Calvin Garage, where prices are right and work guaranteed. Miss Elizabeth Clayton came home from her school near Wetumka Thursday because of an epidemic of grippe in the community. Rev. J. W. Baxter requested us to announce that the Baptist church at Calvin will be dedicated Sunday February 11th. Don M. Rogers has been appointed Liquidating Agent for the First State Bank of Allen which closed its doors last week. Mr. and Mrs. Pink Bailey and daughters Doris and Mary, and son Luman, of Wynona are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Luman and other relatives this week. If the person who took the contribution jar of Baptist Sunday School from the Baptist Church will return the jar, no questions will be asked. R. B. Knight, S. S. Supt. Give us a trial, Calvin Garage. Mrs. Ralph Spettel returned from a three visit to Dustin. If it is good to eat, we have it Clayton Grocery Co. J. V. Dorminy made a business trip to Holdenville Wednesday. Mrs. Willingham returned from Holdenville Tuesday. Drs. J. C. Bentley and McLendon of McAlester were guests of Dr. W. B. Bentley Sunday. Have you tried Kellogs Tastless Castor Oil. We have it. K & M Drug Store. A 4 year old daughter of Mrs. Whitford, who lives north of town, died Sunday afternoon. Charley Watson, who is teaching at C-Bar visited his mother, Mrs. M. J. Watson who has been sick some time, Tuesday. Prosecuting Attorney Tom Fancher of Holdenville was in town Tuesday looking after some boys who were accused of having stolen a radiator from Bill Coats at Non. Judge Gus Collins gave each of the boys a fine and a jail sentence. Mrs. P. J. Stidham left on the early Rock Island train Thursday morning for Fayetteville, Ark. to be with the family of her brother who is leaving immediately to be with another brother at Atlanta, Ga. while he is undergoing an operation in that city. Misses Janice Johns of Ada and Malcom Reed, who is attending Normal at Ada, and Bertie Lee Groce of Holdenville, were Calvin visitors Sunday. They were joined by a number of old school girls and boy friends and had an altogether gay party of of timers.

A Flurry in State Banks. The American National Bank of Holdenville closed it's doors Monday to stop a run on the bank, and then merged with the First National Bank of that place. The First State Bank of Allen closed its doors last week, and the State Bank of Atwood went under and so did the State Bank at Ashland and we have heard that the State Bank of Lamar has also closed.
