Brown, president of the defunct East Alabama National bank, Eufaula, Ala., was back in the Montgomery county jail here tonight to forestall, authorities indicated, being taken to Barbour county on a charge of forgery. He was recommitted on a warrant of the United States commissioner after his bondsmen surrendered his $10,000 bond on a charge of violating the national banking act. A federal charge, it was stated, has precedent over a state case. The Barbour county warrant, reports from Eufaula said, was sworn out by Ed F. Espy, farmer, who alleged Brown forged his name to a $3,000 note.
