HOUSTON RECEIVER. Mutual Reserve Policyholders Must Remit to Him at Austin. Austin, Feb. 22.-These policyholders in Texas of the Mutual Reserve Life Insurance company, who are in any way indebted to this company through medium of notes, or assessments, must remit same to E. T. Hour. ton at Austin, who has been appointed receiver in Texas. This receiver is the only one authorized to receipt for such instruments. This company has a business of $3,500,000 in Texas. L. B. Torrey of Dallas was appointed special agent for the Zulch State bank of Zulch, Madison county, by Superintendent of Banking Love. This bank was ordered closed Friday. Official announcement was made by Tax Collector Thrasher that the total number of poll tax receipts issued in Travis county is 6,500 of which 889 are exemptions. Official call was issued by the state department of banking to all state banks calling for a statement of their condition up to and including Feb. 14. Notwithstanding Saturday was a le. gal holiday the textbook board was in session. Quite a stir was created among book representatives when it became known that the board was considering the question of recalling the award made to one of the book concerns, which, it is claimed, had failed to pay its franchise tax within the time specified by law.
