Branham returned Sunday from Fort Worth where he had been the past Week attend ing the organization of the Commonwealth Bonding and Casualty I Co., of that city and in consultation with other officers of the on company relative to beginning f business sometime in January, t The Commonwealth Bonding and Casualty Co., has a capital and f surplus of $800,000, and will be closely affiliated with the Bankd er's TrustCc., also of Fort Worth t The combined capital and surplus i of the two companies is $1,200,000 w Mr. Branham was elected vicet president and treasurer of the d Commonwealth. He will move to Fort Worth Jan. 1st, where his family will join him as soon as arrangements can be made for lo their leaving St. Louis. He tells P us that the company he is with has bright prospects for a great future, and that he expects to give it the remaining years 01 his 1 life. Among its stockholders are over 60 bankers, many of whom M are officers and directors of the company. "Of course the selection of Mr. Branham as vice-president and be treasurer of the institution is very C gratifying to his friends here, a but it is also a matter of common R regret in smuch as it removes ti from our town a financier and citi P zen whom can ill afford to lose Mr. Branham came to Seymour during a critical period in its financial history and identified a himself with the First National bi Bank, taking over the interest of a Col. A. M. Britton. Later as a) president of this institution, and while other banks around us were in a state of demoralization, he successfully stemmed the tide of a severe financial panic then C sweeping over the country-that of 1893-and saved his bank from st th possible ruin. A few years ago de disposed of his interest in the 1 First National and alterwardsorganized the Farmers National for V Bank of this city, also the First National Bank of Benjamin, an I for as president of each 4.23 placed F both institutions on sure tooting. His operations in the banking business in this country covering a period of about 20 years has been a series of financial succes. in ses. He is also a gentleman of W exalted character-warm hearted m high-minded and public spirited I -and it is only natural that SeyE mour forfeits his citizenship with P regret. The Banner bespeaks ti for him in his new field that suce cess to which his eminent ability o as a banker and financier entitles him, but we part with him under protest." 0 We take pleasure in giving our unqualified endorsement and high appreciation of the article we reproduce from the Seymour, (Tex) Bunner, in reference to our former fellow-townsman and friend, Hon. H. P. Branham. Mr Branham has friends through out Mississippi, who will be grati fied to hear of his continued success. D
