BRANCH BANK IN BROOKLYN OPENS NEXT OCTOBER Waterbury Savings Bank Is Now Preparing Quar= ters For the Opening Plans for opening the new Brooklyn branch of the Waterbury Savings Bank are being gradually completed. Edwin C. Northrop of the banking institution stated today that the branch bank will open on October 1st. At the present time a large crew of men is at work inside the building where the new branch wil be situated at 793 Bank street. The quarters were occupied up to some time ago by a grill. Prior to that time the building was OCcupied on the ground floor, by the former , Kazemekas bank. This bank closed right after the Merchants Trust company suspended operations. The officials of the Waterbury Savings bank estimated that approximately 20,000 of their depositors live in and around the Brooklyn district and that, therefore, the added service and convenience to the patrons of the in stitution is needed. The Waterbury Savings bank will be the only institution of its kind in the city with a branch. At the last session of the Legislature an act was passed authorizing the establishment of branch banking houses in the city. Since the nthe Dime Savings and West Side Savings banks merged with the Waterbury Savings bank.
