CHECKS ON CHESHIRE BANK ARE BEING CASHED HERE Local banks since yesterday have been cashing checks drawn on the Second National Bank of New Haven, receiver for the Cheshire Bank & Trust Co which closed about year ago. The checks were sent out to depositors in the savings and commercial departments of the Cheshire bank. representing dividend payments. The receiver declared a 50 per cent dividend on ings accounts and 25 per commercial. The checks were mailed out Wednesday and some of them made their entrance to Waterbury yesterday A number of Water bury residents were included among the depositors in the Cheshire bank who received their checks.

RICHARD GILLIS DIES IN ANSONIA Brother of Local Woman to Be Burned To-day; Californian Here CHESHIRE NEWS Corrpesondent--Gistav Galucci Phone 319 Mrs George W. Keeler received word late Sunday afternoon of the death of her brother, Richard GIIlis of Ansonila. Funeral services was held from his home this afternoon at 3 o'clock and burial was in Pine Grove cemetery, Ansonia. He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs Morgan and a grandson, and his sister, Mrs Keeler, who is now the last one of a large family. "Dick". as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was a resident of this town many years and is well remembered. E. H. Mix of Redondo Beach, Cal., a former resident of Cheshire has been calling on relatives and friends the past week. Mr and Mrs Harrison B. Faskett celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. and Mrs Faskett's birthday Saturday, with a happy family gathering in the home, which was necessarily a quiet one owing to Mrs Faskett's recent recovery from illness. Cheshire Bank Receiver Ready to Wind Up Job New Haven, June 10.—(AP.)—The Second National Bank as receiver has filed an application in Superior Court for authority to wind up the receivership of the Cheshire Bank and Trust Company. The receiver also has asked for advice concerning the sale of the Cheshire Banks remaining assets. The application, which will be considered by Judge Arthur F. Ells Friday sets forth that savings depositors have recovered all of their savings, while 85 per cent of deposits has been paid commercial depositors. Notes appraised at $2728.79 comprise the closed bank's unsold assets.

FINAL DIVIDEND PAYMENT LOOMS Cheshire Depositors' Hope Extended By Motion Yesterday Mope for the payment of a final dividend to depositors in the commercial department of the Cheshire Bank & Trust company was extended yesterday by the filing of a motion by the receiver asking the advice of the superior court as to whether the payment of a dividend was advisable at the present time. The motion will be heard by Judge Arthur F. Ells at the short calendar session Friday. The receiver, the Second Ntaional bank of New Haven, states that $3,655.88 is on hand for the payment of expenses and to pay a further dividend in the commercial department. Other than a negligible sum for court fees, the chief expenses will be additional fees for the receiver and its attorneys, provision for which is asked in another motion to be heard by the court. Unless the authority of the court is given to sell certain assets of the defunct institution, the receiver believes it would be inadvisable to pay the dividend at the present times "Depositors in the commercial department of the bakn have already received dividends amounting to
