NAMED BANK RECEIVER B. L. Newman In Charge Of American National at Dayton B. L. Newman, 127 South Van Gilder Street, left yesterday for Dayton, Tenn., to become receiver for the failed American National Bank there. He received word of his appointment yesterday morning from J. W. Pole, comptroller of currency. Newman was at one time connected with the old Union National Bank here.

FEDERAL COURT CLOSES HERE UNTIL APRIL TERM Federal court adjourned yesterday after having been in session here, with the exception of holiday recesses, since the second Monday in November. Judge George Taylor and members of his court departed last night and will not return until the April term, which will open the second Monday in April. Several cases were disposed of by the court yesterday. Basil Brittain, narcotic violator, was sentenced to a year and a day in a federal institution. The case of A. J. Bell vs. Ducktown Chemical and Iron company, resulted in a nonsuit. Argument was heard in the suit of A. B. Andrews vs. B. L. Newman, receiver for the American National bank, at Dayton, Tenn. Andrews is seeking to recover $22,000 worth of school bonds as a preferential claim against the bank. He is represented by J. B. Sizer and Burnett Sizer, while the bank receiver is represented by J. B. Swaf-
