Enthusiastic Meeting at the Woman's Club at Micanopy Last Monday afternoon the club rooms of the Woman's Club were the scene of a most enthusiastic meeting. were justly proud that The members their own they should convene in rooms on their third meeting. A motion was immediately put through that the wiring be rushed and finished at the earliest possible moment, so that theclub house might be a center of social activity at night as well as in the day. The plans for a rare supper were outlined by the finance committee, and other forms of community entertainments are expected to follow. There were six new members. and plans were made to take care of junior would-be members by organizing an associate society among the high school girls. The library which is growing by leaps and bounds, will be opened three afternoons in the week. This will help to fill the long-felt need of a public library, into which we hope to see our small library grow. The civic committee reported a complaint made to the street committee of the town, which resulted in the removal of a fallen tree. A bulletin board will be placed in front of the club room. Here all important notices, and club "current events" will be posted. The child welfare and public health committees are drawing up a program which will be presented at the next meeting. They will also have pamphlets for distribution. A committee was appointed to draft a creed which will be presented to the club for acceptance. The delegates to the fourth disrtict conference in Ocala reported a most enjoyable and beneficial trip, bringing back a message to every club member, especially stressing the regisrtation of women voters and the paying of their poll tax. In behalf of the teachers of the public schools Miss Hancock thanked the club for honorary memberships and expressed her individual appreciation by the presentation of a banner. The secretary read a letter from Miss Skinner, officially notifying the club of its reception into the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. After discussion it was voted to have a working year of twelve months. At the conclusion of the business program the hostesses for the afternoon, Mesdames o. L. Feaster and J. C. Thrasher, Jr., invited the members into the reception room, which was decorated with quantities of exquisite roses, donated by Mrs. L. J. Montgomery. Delicious refreshments, consisting of chicken sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches and iced tea, were served by Misses Rosborough and Franklin. Secretary. Mr. Edison is so enraptured over the bougainvillaes that he says in an interview in the Fort Myers Tropical News: "Plant bougainvillaes if nothing else." This beautiful flower should adorn every home in Florida. According to a special dispatch to the Times-Union from Tallahassee, T. E. Circuit Judge Names One After Comptroller Has Acted JURISDICTION ISSUE Law Regulating Receivers Gives Comptroller Authority (By Associated Press) Tallahassee, April 10.-A conflict of authority has arisen in Palm Beach county where the State Bank of Felismere was taken over by the state comptroller following an investigation nito its affairs after the death of the cashier, and whose accounts were found several thousand dollars short. Under the law the comptroller is specially authorized to name receivers for banks under his jurisdiction. In due form a receiver was named by the comptroller, but it was found later that Judge Davis, of the circuit court, had also named a receiver, who went to Fellsmere and demanded from the examiner and recéiver named by the comptroller, the keys of the bank. The examiner wired to Tallahassee for instructions, and was told to hold to what he had. He later advised the comptroller's office that a forcible entrance to the bank was either being attempted or g had already actually been made by the receiver named by the court. Assistant Attorney General Gaines t then left here for West Palm Beach, r W arriving there this morning to preb sent a request that the appointment of a receiver by the court be vacated. f The alternative is an appeal to the supreme court. f

FIGHT OVER BANK AT FELLSMERE Question of Authority Between the Controller and Circuit Judge At West Palm Beach (Associated Press) Palatka, April 10.-Assistant Attorney General Gaines left here last night for West Palm Beach in connection with the closing of the State Bank of Fellsmere. A conflict in authority has developed. The controller, under the law, the only one to name a receiver, appointed one. Circuit Judge Davis at West Palm Beach also appointed one and the examiner in charge of the bank wired the controller Saturday that Judge Davis' appointee had demanded the keys to the bank. The examiner refused to reply. The bank is reported to have been forcibly entered. Gaines arrived in West Palm Beach this morning to ask Judge Davis to vacate his order appointing a receiver, citing his lack of jurisdiction. If Judge Davis refuses the assistant attorney general will anpeal to the supreme court for a quo warranto.
