Fertilizer Company On Outskirts Of City Sells For $37,000 Consideration Sale of the Powhatan Guano company, of this city, to the Planters Fertilizer and Phosphate company, of Charleston, for consideration of $37,000 featured real estate transfers filed yesterday in the office of James R. Bates, register of mesne conveyance. The sale to the Charleston firm includes the site of 10 acres located on the outskirts of the city between the Piedmont road and the Anderson highway, all buildings, machinery, tools, on the grounds, office equipment, and the use of the name and good will in all states except Virginia and North Carolina. J. Ross Hanahan. of Charleston, is president of the Planters company, buyers. The deal was handled by B. A. Morgan, local attorney. for the Powhatan company and by George H. Moffett, Charleston attorney, for the purchasers. Other transfers were filed with the register as follows: Emmie McGee. Gladys McGee Lutie McGee and Susie McGee Barksdale to A. D. L. Measure To Refund Taxes To Defunct Banks Passes House COLUMBIA. Apr. 14-Two Greenville bills, providing for refunding of taxes to two defunct banks, were passed by the house today and sent the senate. There was no opposition One of the bills would authorize the treasurer of Greenville county to refund to Oscar Hodges, receiver for the Bank of Simpsonville the sum of $786.24, being taxes paid by the receiver after the bank closed, payment being made under misconcept of the law pertaining to levy against banks. A similar bill provides for the refunding of $560.75 to the South Carolina Savings bank as receiver for the Peoples bank of Fountain Inn.
