TO ASK PAYMENT OF 45 PER CENT. FOR DEPOSITORS American Trust Receiver's Counsel To Get Fee Of $20,000 FIRST DISTRIBUTION TOTALED 15 PER CENT. Circuit Judge Today Signs Order For Payment To Lawyer An order calling for the payment of $20,000 as a fee to Stuart S. Janney for his services as counsel to the receiver of the American Trust Company today was signed by Judge Eugene O'Dunne in the Circuit Court No. 2. At the same time it was revealed that the court within a few days will be asked to give formal approval to the proposed payment of forty-five per cent. of their claims to the depositors of the institution, who previously had received the first distribution of fifteen per cent. Preparations are being made to carry out the additional forty-five per cent. distribution within a short time, it was learned. Other Distributions Expected It was also stated that the State bank commissioner, receiver for the institution, and his counsel, expect to make other distributions to depositors of the bank at a later date, being partly dependent upon litigation now being appealed concerning the liability of stockholders. The impending 45 per cent. distribution was said to be connected with the recent settlement by the receiver of claims against other banks in connection with guarantees of deposits of the American Trust Company when that institution was taken over by the Union Trust Company several years ago.
