2 South Bend Banks Close, Due to Runs SOUTH BEND, Ind.. Feb. 18 (I.N.S.) .Two large South Bend banks closed their doors today, largely as the result of runs precipitated by the Michigan Bank holiday. Three other banks in the city were not affected. The closed institutions were the St. Joseph County Loan and Trust Company with deposits of approximately $7,000,000 and the St, Joseph County Savings Bank, a $2,000,000 institution.

TWO LARGE SOUTH BEND, INDIANA BANKS CLOSED Seven And Nine Million Dollar Institutions Topple SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 18.โ€”Two large South Bend banks closed their doors today. Three other banks in the city were not affected. The closed institutions were the St. Joseph County Loan and Trust Company with deposits of approximately $7,000,000 and the St. Joseph County Savings bank, a $2,000,000 institution. Officers of the banks issued a statement that the closings were due to a heavy drain on the savings accounts.
