BANK IN TOWN And Is Declared Absolutely SolventβMove to Prevent a Receivership and Secure Reopening of Institution. DEDHAM, Ia., March 14.βAn idle rumor which is supposed to have had its beginning in Carroll was responsible for the failure of the Farmers Trust and Savings bank at Dedham. Steps are already under way to effect a reorganization of the institution and this will likely be accomplished in a short time. It is not thought that the bank will be placed in the receiver's hands, the general belief being that the bank is solvent and will be opened for business before very long. The Farmers Trust and Savings bank is the only bank in Dedham. Its affairs were not involved, but injurious talk got in its work and a steady run was begun on the bank. This continued until the officers realized it would be necessary to close the doors to head off the run. The bank was capitalized at $25,000 and carried a surplus of $7,500. Its officers include some of the most substantial men of Dedham and Newton township, they being J. J. Klingseis, president; J. G. Schreck, vice president and cashier; S. B. Harvey, L. L. Zitzlsperger, J. B. Wiskus and Theodore Meyer, directors. The institution was started in 1911 and incorporated as a state bank in 1918.
