DEFUNCT BANK AT BIG RAPIDS PAYS CLAIMS Big Rapids, Mich., April 8.β€”Officials of the township, the White Cloud board of education, the Odd Fellow lodge and numerous small creditors who lost their deposits when the Newaygo County bank at White Cloud failed April 26, 1926, are rejoicing because of an order by Judge Joseph Barton of Big Rapids, granting the petition of the bank receiver, the Old State bank of Fremont, to pay a 20 per cent dividend on liabilities, amounting to $44,000. Depositors whose claims were below $50 each have been paid by a bank officer, it is said, with prospects that claims not exceeding $100 also will be cared for. It is expected another dividend will be declared in 60 days. The Newaygo County bank failed for about $47,000.
