Mr. Voorhies recently sent notices to all receivers calling their attention to reports that had reached him to the effect that hundreds of thousands of dollars had been withdrawn, through inside information that the banks were insolvent, and directing them to take action to recover the assets. The receiver of the Farmers & Merchants banks in Carson City informed Mr. Voorhies he had succeeded in increasing the banks assets by $6,012 through restitution.
