His brother, John Hempel, of Fairbury also was among the number.

PAY DIVIDENDS Lincoln, Feb. 21. (AP)β€”The state banking department today paid the following dividends to failed banks depositors: Hebron State bank, first dividend of 25 per cent, $33,036. Bank of Avoca, first dividend of 10 per cent, $5,296. State bank of Bee, 15 per cent dividend, $12,234, bringing amount returned to 50 per cent or $40,782. Marion State bank, 4.8 per cent dividend, $2,985, bringing amount returned to 44.8 per cent or $27,877.
