CAHILL TAKES OVER CLOSED BANKS AFFAIRS J. E. Cahill of Springfield is here today checking out J. H. Langston, preparatory to taking over the affairs of the three clos ed Texas County banks-the Tex as County Bank of Houston, the Piney River Bank of Simmons, and the Citizens Savings Bank of Cabool. In addition to these banks, Mr. Cahill will also be in charge of all other banks in pio cess of liquidation in South Cen tral and Southwest Missouri. This is an economy measure ad opted by the State Finance Department in order to keep the expense of liquidation to a mini mum. Mr. Cahill announces that strenuous actions will be taken to colleet the remaining assets of the banks. He will be at the bank in Cabool one or two days each week. Other days of the week the note case of the Piney River Bank and Citizens Bank will be left at the Cabool state Bank, where parties owing these banks may make payment on notes. Mr. Cahill wishes to stress the point that the affairs of the banks will be settled at the ear liest possible date consistent with the best interests of the depositors, and the banks will not be held in liquidation in order to provide any one with job. He states that just as soon as a preliminary survey of the condition of the banks can be made, which will be within the next two or three weeks, a conference will be held with the depositors committees and if thought advisable a meeting of the depositors will be called. He further states that in settling the affairs of the banks the depositors interests will be put foremost. In the matter of paying dividends and closing up the business of the banks he states that he will be governed entirely by the opinion of the depositors. Dr. R. L. Russell of the state board of health was called to Bakersfield last week to aid in the checking of a smallpox epidemic Five cases of smallpox have developed in the Bakersfield school district, and there are numerous cases in the surrounding country Dr. Russell urged all persons who have not been vaccinated during the past seven years to be vaccinated at once.
