REVEALS BANK'S LOSSES ARE GREAT BLUE RAPIDS, Kan., May Henry W. Koeneke, state bank commissioner, here to investigate the affairs the Citizens State bank, which closed late Tuesday after Cummings, the bank's cashier, shot and killed himself, declared shortage in the closed institution would be at least $41,767.57 and that there is possibility $17,517.57 will be added to this figure. Discovery of the shortage deputy bank examiners has caused all plans to reorganize the institution to be dropped. J. G. Chitty, retired business man of Irving, Kan., was named by commissioner Koeneke, to assistant receiver to liquidate the bank. He will assist the state's general bank receiver, W. Johnson. The loss in the bank is attributed to juggling of funds by Cummings, according to preliminary report made by the bank shot himself short time after bank appeared to make their regular audit,

The plaintiffs and the amounts of judgments as follows: Chas Habegger, Hattie Harger, Zulek, Katie and Oren Lyon, Didn't Receive Theirs In each alleged that the instituted suit within the period covered by the statute of limitations asking that his claim be declared preferred claim against the bank and that each suit resulted judgment for common claim. further alleged that they were not included in the 25 per cent dividend which was paid to other depositors on November 24. 1931. and that the receiver since has refused to pay the amounts due them The Citizens State bank of Blue Rapids was taken over by the state bank on May 1930, few minutes after Charles E. Cummings, defaulting cashier, had taken his life In the trial of the original suits the plaintiffs the bank cashreceived their money to invest in government bonds and other nonsecurities and that he appropriated the money to other uses. E. Estes. who has been ill for days. improved. Mrs. Viola Farrell and daughters, Mary and Elnora. of Bremen came Sunday to spend several days with their brother. Joe P. Zabokrtsky, and wife. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Guffee motore to Irving yesterday afternoon for visit with Mrs. Guffee's parents, and Mrs. W. D. DeShazer. Mrs. De Shazer has been quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ponder and family have moved from an apartment in the home of Dr. and Mrs. D. Patterson to the Stoehr residence north of the Marysville hospital. Mr and Mrs. Custard and daughter, Doris Ruth, arrived home Monday from Kansas City, where they had been called by the death Mrs Custard's father, Austin Boulden Mr and Mrs. W D. Loche and family. who had been living on the Stettnisch farm south of Bremen, have moved to Marysville H. M. Travelute traded for the Stetnisch farm and moved there the first of the month. Mrs. Harry Sien went to Davenport, Nebr. yesterday to visit her Mrs. Josephine who is ill Miss Verneda Freeby arrived home Tuesday from Hutchinson, where she had spent several days with friends Mr and Mrs. Schumacher Pawnee City, Nebr. were here Tuesday relatives and Miss Opal Waters arrived home Sunday evening from Manhattan, where she had spent the week Frank Root of Oketo was Tuesday enroute to Frankfort for visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. K H. H. Smoot of Leavenworth was here yesterday attending Union Pacific division safety meeting, and visiting friends. Donald Fulton went to Mankato Tuesday business. Mr. and Mrs. Fulton and four children recently moved from Mankato to Marysville. Mrs. Jessie Gray of Chicago spent short time here Thursday with Miss Elsie Wright, enroute to Oketo for visit with her aunt, Mrs. Edith Mrs. Leslie Harry, son, Merlin, and daughter Phyllis. of Beattie, came Saturday evening and visited over Sunday at the home her cousin, Mrs. Estes, and family Mr and Mrs. Henry Sien, who had been visiting for two weeks at the home of their son. Harry Sien, and family. returned to their home at Davenport, Nebr., Monday Their son. Melvin Sien, and wife motered here after them.
