Closed Bank Expenses A suit was filed in district court last week asking the judge to inquire into the expenses of the receivership of the failed Peoples State Bank at Hanover. The petition claims that the funds of the bank belonging to depositors are being illegally and wrongfully used for receiver's and attorney's fees out of proportion to the value of the services rendered and that unreasonable and excessive fees are being paid for clerk hire, advertising and other unauthorized expenses. The court is asked to examine these items and cut them down to a proper level. Several similar suits have been tried in other counties and it has been found that the present Democrat governor of this state and his politician bank commissioner have permitted almost a looting of the funds of failed banks to the benefit of party henchmen. A news item from Parsons some time ago stated that the bank at Hallowell, Kansas, was examined by the court and it was found that $300 more a month was being paid out than it cost to run the bank before it failed. We do not know what the court inquiry will bring out in this county, but it will doubtless show that big fees are being paid "deserving Democrats" for little or no work.β€”Washington (Kans) Rep. Register.
