Non-Payment Of Dividends Told Bank And Trust Co. Receiver Explains BROWNSVILLE, Tex., July 18.—(Sp)—In an interview with a Star reporter, regarding the payment of dividends of the closed Texas Bank and Trust Co., to depositors which had been announced some time ago, Lee L. Adams, receiver for the bank gave the Valley Morning Star the "why" of the non-payment of the dividends, as had been previously announced. Mr. Adams, in the interview said: "All the dividends are handled direct from the claim division of the state banking department and not from the receiver. Information "I am giving the Star the only information I have received so far from the banking commission. An article published in a newspaper leads creditors to believe that I do not want to tell them anything about affairs of the closed bank when my desire is to give any information that can be of any help to all concerned in the affairs of the bank. I am always willing to give information to the public," Mr. Adams said. Then the bank receiver proceeded to show a Star reporter the originals of letters received from the department of banking, in Austin, Texas.
