Receiver For Bank Is Named HELENA, Mont., March 24.-C. M. McCoy, deputy superintendent of banks for Montana, has been appointed by State Bank Examiner L Q. Skelton to take temporary charge of the Yellowstone Valley Bank and Trust company of Sidney which closed its doors yesterday. The bank was capitalized at $100,000. had deposits of $388,035.09 on December last, a surplus of $15,000 and undivided profits of $30,407. A deficient reserve and poor collections were given as the principal causes of the bank's suspension. The institution was closed voluntarily by the directors. The president was Dr. J. J. Gelz and the cashier Joseph A. Schmid. The bank was organized in 1916 and was a result of a merger of the Yellowstone National and Farmers' National

REPORT RECEIVED REGARDING STATE'S BANK CONDITIONS (Staff Correspondence.) Helena, Jan. 24.β€”In compliance with a request made by the house after the adoption of a resolution by Burke of Fergus, asking for a detailed report on banking conditions in Montana, L. Q. Skelton, state bank examiner, today submitted such a report. The examiner's report shows that on Jan. 1, 1923, there were 259 incorporated state banks and seven private banks. During the year 1922, 22 state banks failed and closed their doors. Two of these banks have since reopened. His report also shows that the time of examination of banks before their failure ranged from 13 days to nine months and 29 days. The report in detail follows: State Banks Closed During Year 1922. Drummond State bank, Drummond, closed Jan. 16, 1922, reopened June 12, 1922; date last examined prior to closing, August 10, 1921.
