REPORT RECEIVED REGARDING STATE'S BANK CONDITIONS (Staff Correspondence.) Helena, Jan. 24.β€”In compliance with a request made by the house after the adoption of a resolution by Burke of Fergus, asking for a detailed report on banking conditions in Montana, L. Q. Skelton, state bank examiner, today submitted such a report. The examiner's report shows that on Jan. 1, 1923, there were 259 incorporated state banks and seven private banks. During the year 1922, 22 state banks failed and closed their doors. Two of these banks have since reopened. His report also shows that the time of examination of banks before their failure ranged from 13 days to nine months and 29 days. The report in detail follows: State Banks Closed During Year 1922. Drummond State bank, Drummond, closed Jan. 16, 1922, reopened June 12, 1922; date last examined prior to closing, August 10, 1921. Treasure State bank, Hysham, now in hands department, closed Jan. 13, 1922; date last examined prior to closing, July 21, 1921. Milk River Valley bank, Glasgow, closed Jan. 18, 1922, reopened August 1, 1922; date last examined prior to closing, Jan. 5, 1922. BOTH COUNTY AND BANK WANT MONEY TREASURE COUNTY IN COURT TO HAVE $2,200 ON DEPOSIT IN TREASURE STATE BANK DECLARED TRUST FUND In an effort to have $2,200 deposited in the Treasure State Bank, declared a trust and preference claim against the bank, County Attorney C. L. Harris, as attorney for County Treasurer E. A. Carroll, filed a petition some time ago, which came up in district court before Judge Geo. A. Horkan here Saturday afternoon. J. O. Crandall, county clerk, was sworn, followed by arguments by E. D. Gerye for defendant, and Mr. Harris for the county, after which the court took the matter under advisement. The court ordered that $121.80, due J. C. Hagen from the county, be paid to H. S. Flatt, receiver of the Treasure State bank to apply on a judgment secured by the bank. The case of Harold Barkhuff vs. H. M. Cochlin and Phil Isaac, sheriff, an action to replevin three horses seized in April, 1923, to secure a debt of $375, was heard. The court struck out part of the complaint. C. L. Harris, for plaintiff and E. D. Gerye for defendant. Judgments in foreclosure proceedings were taken by the New York Life Insurance company against W. H. Ungles, and H. S. Flatt as receiver of the Treasure State bank against J. J. and Katherine Conlon. Court confirmed the sale of the Dr. Farrell estate, and ordered distribution in the Bruno Heineman estate. A demurr in the case of the Western Bond and Mortgage company against Phil Isaac as sheriff, was sustained. This is a case where a car in the possession of J. W. Lawless, was attached by C. M. Vreeland for debt. C. L. Harris for plaintiff and E. D. Gerye for defendant. Wm. Hission was appointed special administrator for the estate of Lena Clark.
