EDGEMONT BANK FAILS Lusk Herald: Word was received here yesterday that the Bank of Edgemont failed to open its doors for business that morning as usual. What the cause of the failure is attributed to has not yet been learned in Lusk. A number of people from the north country were trading in town Tuesday and offered checks on this bank in payment for goods purchased here, knowing nothing of the bank's failure. Of course it was a big shock when the news was broken to them. The failure of this institution does not mean much to its depositors in the way of loss. South Dakota is protected by a state bank guarantee law and eventually the entire amount of the deposit will be refunded to those carrying accounts in any state banking institution that "goes on the rocks."
