HEAVY RUN ON R. I. BANK Depositors Storm Columbus Institution Following Closing of Others in Providence Providence, R. I., Nov. 30—Alarmed by the closing of the Westminster bank and the Cosmopolitan trust company, depositors started a run on the Atwells avenue branch of the Columbus exchange bank today. More than $75,000 was withdrawn in the morning hours. Bank Commissioner G. H. Newhall agrees with Mariano Vervena, Italian consular agent and president of the bank that the institution is solvent. Other banking institutions have offered to furnish all cash required if the run continues.

George L. Wade, Kansas City millionaire racing enthusiast, struck down by a racing car driven by Harry Hartz, as the race was about to start, died in a hospital an hour later. Russel Hughes, veteran Los Angeles photographer, was almost instantly killed by the same car which was forced to swerve to avoid hitting another car on the track. An investigation of the accident was launched by the sheriff's office today. Hill made an average of 113.45 miles an hour in winning. Jimmy Murphy was second and Eddie Hearn, by virtue of points becomes the 1923 speed king, taking the title away from Murphy who needed to win the race to hold his title.
